Who is a candidate for Facial Reconstruction?
X-rays and thorough examinations can help in determining if you might benefit from facial reconstruction. Most patients who need this surgery can have it done easily in our office and benefit from the work that is done. Facial reconstruction is specific to each individual patient. We will go over all sedative and surgical options during your consultation appointment with us.
What happens during Facial Reconstruction?
We first consult with you and go over all information regarding surgery. We then put you under general anesthesia so that the procedure is comfortable for you. We then work on reconstruction the area that is damaged or problematic. Depending on the specific patient, this could mean repairing lip and palatal deformities, skin grafting as well as placing surgical-grade weights to prevent the look of asymmetry. Once you wake up, you will need to be taken home by a friend or relative as you won’t be able to drive yourself. Followup care is important as it ensures that you are healing properly and that the surgery was a success.
If you think you might need facial reconstruction surgery, call our office today and we will be able to get you in for a consultation.
